I did not prepare for the International English Test System in a formal sense.

I read about the guidelines and the format for each of the components of the test and made use of some of the free practice materials that are available on the IELTS website.

Since I have been learning English for over seven years and I applied to take the test two months before the test date, I did not think that preparing for two months would make a major difference in the final result. However, it does help to familiarize oneself with the format of each test module.

For the listening part of the exam I did prepare by using the materials available online. This part was the most challenging for me since I am more familiar with the American accent. The fact that I have watched a great number of movies and series in English helped a lot in this area.

Regarding my preparation for the reading and writing parts, I did not practice with the material available online or any other sort of material. I write essays and read literary texts in English. Reading literary works developed my reading comprehension; something that I believe cannot be achieved in only two months of practice.

As for the speaking part, I did not prepare for this test module in the formal sense because I often use English in order to communicate with people when I cannot communicate my ideas in the language that is spoken in the country in which I currently reside.
